I remember watching the original series (which aired from 1978 to 1991) with my mom like it was yesterday. And surprisingly, my Twitter feed revealed that I wasn't the only 30-something who had memories of watching "Dallas" with her mom. There were others like me who (as a young girl) had enjoyed the scandalous scenarios between a vicious villain (J.R.) and a gorgeous good guy (Bobby).
My mom and I would make a batch of microwavable popcorn (a treat in those days) and sink into the family room sofa every Friday night for a dose of J.R., Sue Ellen, Bobby, Pam and the rest of Southfork Ranch. Remember Priscilla Presley as Bobby's first true love, Jenna Wade? She wasn't one of my favorite characters, but I remember my mom telling me stories about her early days with Elvis.
I spent many cold nights and stormy weekends last year
Did you watch the new series premiere of "Dallas" or have you watched the original series? Share your story.

I loved the premiere! The theme music still gives me chills.
ReplyDeleteI fell in love with the series back when I was in junior high. I watched it through the original years, and then I caught a few seasons on TNN in the late nineties.
I am eager to see the rest of the new season. Too bad TNT seasons are so short. We'll only get ten episodes instead of twenty-four.
Oh well, I know where I will be every Wednesday night this summer.
I'm already so addicted, Tammi. I love a well written drama and I'm happy the music is pretty much the same. Thanks for your comment.
ReplyDeleteI LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Dallas growing up. I used to watch it with my sister Millie all the time. LOL! The minute I heard the theme song I knew I was gonna be in for a treat. So happy it's back!
ReplyDeleteI have high hopes for the new series. Thanks for stopping by my blog, Lana.
