Boston Fork Lift Food Fest

So far this summer Mr. Chat and I have been low key in terms of extensive travel. We've embarked on day trips to our usual spots like Newport, Kennebunkport, Newburyport and Gloucester. We also spent a long (and very expensive) weekend experiencing the finer things in New England life on Nantucket. Our favorite New England island is a glimpse of beautiful places and even more beautiful things. With all that we have seen, sipped and savored in the last eight weeks, I’ve been lacking in my usual creativity and have neglected sharing our fun on the blog. Perhaps this is a sign of serious writer's block combined with too much sun?!

In all honesty, Mr. Chat and I never have to venture too far from our own backyard to experience a little fun. As you know (if you live in Boston), festivities are always a hop, skip and a jump away. Prior to “working it” (and by that I mean playing tennis and bike riding in 90+ degrees) last weekend, we popped into City Hall Plaza Thursday evening for the Boston Fork Lift Food Fest.

Hosted by Outside the Box, the city's first (and now annual) performing arts festival, the Fork Lift Food Fest is a four-day affair joining many of Boston’s most celebrated culinary masters including Jody Adams, Michael Schlow, Steve DiFillippo and Lydia Shire just to name a few.

Participating restaurants served specialties under tented stations while chefs demonstrated their culinary crafts onstage and live music piped in the air. With food tickets in hand (courtesy of the event's public relations team), Mr. Chat and I strolled along rows of makeshift restaurants plotting our prey. We stopped at Scampo, browsed The Bristol and dropped by Davio's. What flavors did we favor?! Here's a look at our favorites.
Scampo :: Lobster Hot Dog

The Bristol Lunge :: Nantucket Blue Crab Chowder

Davio's :: Kobe Meatball Sliders

Shake Shack :: Cheeseburger
